Take Time to Smell the Fish |

As a producer for Sharing Life Together, I get to hear plenty of funny stories. Like the one from the mom whose child decided to wiggle out of his car seat, take all his clothes off and wave to the police officer stopped at the intersection next to them. My story involves taking my kids fishing. I figured it would be a nice relaxing time.
Was I wrong.
From the moment they cast their lines in I was constantly re-baiting, untangling, and trying to pull hooks out of the four rainbow trout we caught in the span of 30 minutes. Since it was all our first time fishing, my fish releasing skills were not too good. A fact my kids had to tell every other fisherman they came across as our trout floated belly up in front of us!
The excursion ended with a fishing rod coming out of my son's hands and quickly sinking to the bottom of the lake. I had a sinking feeling that I failed as a fisherman.
However, my kids loved it. Mainly they loved that dad took the time to do something new, and out of the ordinary with them, and even though I may not have had the typical sit-down-and-drink-your-coffee-while-waiting-for-the-fish-to-bite morning, it was great to just be together. I realized again that it all goes by so fast. Everything in this day and age does. It makes me thankful that I can produce a radio show that helps folks relax - hopefully lets them slow down a bit. Over and over we hear things like that – how Martha plays the music and offers a listening ear that soothes.
So I invite you to listen, and if you see your times with your kids flying by, check out
