Post The outward appearance of Jesus Reply with quote
What did Jesus look like in His first incarnation and is that how He will look to us when He returns?
Can you explain and give Bible reference?

Welcome back!! Great questions Misfit!! You Rock! Thumbs-up

i'm very tired right now and don't know the exact verse, but ido know that it is written that Jesus was a rather common/average looking man.

I imagine that He will be quite disfigured and will still have the nail prints in His hands/wrist, feet, and side.

1. Mary Magdalene didn't recognize Him on the resurrection morning, till after He spoke.

2. The disciples on the road didn't recognize Him until He broke bread with Him.

3. Thomas was able to put his fingers in the holes of Jesus' body.

4. The book of Revelation states that the Jews will bitterly weep when they see the holes in His body.

All this will be overtaken by the glory that will surround Him.

Maybe I can refresh your memory with these two verses.

I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire. (Dan.7:9)

His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; (Rev. 1:14)

If you have other information please share it with me.

My computer is indicating the time is 4:01 PM central time.

Not to worry about that verse, it will turn up when you least expect it to.

with some much needed help from friends, here's the verse.

Quote:
Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

(BBE) For his growth was like that of a delicate plant before him, and like a root out of a dry place: he had no grace of form, to give us pleasure;

(GNB) It was the will of the LORD that his servant grow like a plant taking root in dry ground. He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him. There was nothing attractive about him, nothing that would draw us to him.

That verse in Isaiah tells us that Jesus was a plain, ordinary appearing person. We could possibly have passed Him on the street and not have know that He was the Christ.
That seems so extraordinary to me. I would venture to say that after the exit resurrection of the Church, that He will no longer be unrecognizable! I think, based on the Bible, that He will wear the evidence of His crucifixion throughout eternity, as a reminder of what He did for humankind. The white hair mentioned above should also make His appearance more noticeable.
I know the Bible tells us He will have white hair in the Millennium, but I wonder if He will also have it throughout eternity. I would have thought we would all have a body more changed than that - something more on the order of a spiritual body.

hmmmm, if Jesus still has His nail prints, will fat people still be fat, will the bald still be bald, or will we have bodies like supermodels and Greek athletes?

Oh no you don't! I don't want a fat body!!! The body model must maintain are too artificial and I prefer reality, so I want to be like Jesus!
Doesn't the Bible tell us that we shall be like He is?
Our Father said eyes have not seen nor ears heard the things He has prepared for those who love Him, so I do not think we can even imagine how we shall appear!
I love surprises! Smile
