Our culture is abandoning Christianity. What can we do about it? Today on "Home School Heartbeat", Michael Farris and Patrick Henry College's academic dean, Dr. Gene Edward Veith, discuss a solution.

Michael Farris: Dr. Veith, yesterday you described the problems that we're seeing in culture because of the collapse of the Christian consensus. What are Christians supposed to do in this area--in the arts and the media and the other areas of the culture that we see?

Dr. Gene Edward Veith: Well, to their credit, Christians are trying to engage the culture now. Christians are getting involved in politics, they're getting involved in the arts, Christians are trying to do things with film and the media and journalism to try to make a difference--and that's all good, and that's very exciting, and it's frustrating sometimes because it does have a lot of challenges and sometimes they don't see the fruits immediately of their efforts. But there's one area where Christians are really having dramatic success in really giving an alternative to what's happening in the culture today, and that's in education. Today, thanks to homeschoolers and thanks to classical Christian schools and others, we're turning out Christians who are better educated than their non-Christian peers. And education is always the key. And the people who are going to lead the culture are going to be the ones with the best education. And right now, that's what's happening among Christians.
